​Gervais Family Maple in Bakersfield, Vermont is owned and operated by third generation sugar makers Gabe and Amy Gervais since 1993. We have been Vermont certified organic since 2008.

In 1951 Antonio St. Cyr(Grandfather) bought a dairy farm in Enosburg Vt. As most other Vermont farmers did he tapped buckets and collected sap with horses on the farm boiling the sap with wood. On his farm which is in production to this day he had two sugarhouses that he boiled at one and his son would boil in the other one in between chores. He loved his horses and taught us how hard work and pride could turn out sweet rewards in syrup and memories. 

In 1959 Robert and Gisele Gervais (Parents) bought their first piece of land in Bakersfield, Vt. He started milking cows and making syrup on the farm. I guess they didn't have enough help so they started having children. As the family grew so did their love of dairy and maple sugaring. They grew a family of 15 children, 11 boys and 4 girls. Now four boys and my parents operate the dairy farm milking 1700 cows in two locations. Another brother operates another dairy milking 100 cows and my four sisters started Boston Post Dairy. Where they make award winning cheeses and baked goods. All of us carried sap buckets at one time or other whether we liked it or not:)
